Just east of us is the Hiawatha National Forest where you can enjoy swimming, boating and fishing. Visit Munising, MI, home of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore where you can enjoy a day of hiking, swimming and kayaking; rent a canoe or pontoon or take the famous Pictured Rocks Cruise, voted the #1 cruise in MI. You can also get Lake Superior kayak rentals and canoe rentals directly from us at our Northern Michigan Lake Superior resort to get out and do some Lake Superior kayaking or canoeing.
Visit the Pictured Rocks Golf Club with its 18 hole championship course, lounge and restaurant. Experience the history of the Grand Island Lighthouse with a sunset cruise, ferry over to Grand Island and enjoy the day with a bus tour, hike or bike the entire island! Scuba dive in the Alger Underwater Preserve and explore the many shipwreck sites. Travel a little further east to check out some Upper Peninsula waterfalls like Tahquamenon Falls State Park to view in all four seasons the 2nd largest waterfall in the United States; and the Historic Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point is less than 20 minutes north of the falls!
Just west of our Seacoast properties is Marquette, MI voted one of the most distinctive cities in the United States. Marquette is the home of Northern Michigan University(NMU), DeVos Art Museum,Marquette General Hospital, Presque Isle Park, MooseWood Nature Center, the Marquette Lighthouse and Maritime Museum,the Great Lakes station of the United States Coast Guard, the Upper Peninsula Children's Museum,The Superior Dome, the United States Olympic Education Center, Peter White Library and Marquette County History Museum.
There are many seasonal activites to partake in like a fall color tour to enjoy the beautful changing leaves in autumn. Located in Marquette County is the famous Greywalls Golf Club, rated one of the top 10 golf courses in the world and an amazing activity for spring through fall! Fourteen of the most picturesque waterfalls in Michigan are here in Marquette County;as well as thirteen cross country skiing, hiking and biking trails, six of which make up the Noquemanon Trail Network. Marquette Mountain is one of the most challenging ski areas in the midwest and one of the best Upper Michigan ski resorts. There are many cross country Upper Michigan ski trails. Also for winter vacation activities in the U.P. we have many groomed trails for Upper Michigan snowmobiling. Plenty of back country snowmobiling in the Upper Peninsula too. Get out on the big lake and do some Lake Superior charter fishing or tour the Tilden Mine and Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum and don't forget the U.S.National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame and Michigan Iron Industry Museum.
